All The Tools You Need To Build A Successful Online Business

Case Study 3

(This one needs more work  -  testimonial video from Brian?)

Brian owns and runs a professional firm in Scotland employing 10-12 staff providing back office services to a team of self-employed legal professionals.

When I started supporting Brian he had a hybrid of a business. Runing a traditionally structured legal firm employing solicitors and para legals whilst at the same time building his new business model of a Plug and Play legal practice where the legal professionals were self-employed and his business provided them with the necessary back office support and systems.

When I first started working with Brian he was extremely frustrated and at a loss to understand the behaviour of his staff. His constant question was ‘Why are they doing this? Don’t they understand why this is [working against themselves, stupid, ] and we did move some of the most negative and cynical staff out of the business.

However, in last 2 years of working together we focussed on truly creating the structure and business identity of the team that would take the business forward to meet the ambitious growth targets Brian and set:

  • Firstly we moved all employees to the new business model, applying a redundancy process for those who no longer had a role.
  • We actively moved negative, disruptive individuals out of the business. Employees and Consultants.
  • Work was started on creating business employer brand. Setting out clear expectations for attitude and behaviour via an Employee Handbook and other communications and presentations.
  • Internally promoted a COO to take over the leadership and management of the staff and to continue build the innovative process and systems that provide the business with efficiencies and cost savings.

Brian is now free to build the business.  He has, within the first 3 months of 2024 already achieved his expansion and growth plans for the year. With the solid back office structures in place he can now achieve his plans to be the biggest business of this type in the UK.
